Work with Local Villagers on Irrigation Methods for Hillside Farming

Volunteers would live in a small village in the Valley that is about 3 hours from Kathmandu and 1.5 hours from Trisoli. Here the locals farm the very steep hillsides of the completely mountainous terrain. They build culverts that store and distribute the water necessary for irrigation. Your assignment will have you clearing land, forming and pouring cement to make the culverts and storage tanks, and helping with the daily planting, harvesting, and tilling duties. The days are long, but they are steeped in the embrace of very poor yet optimistic, good-natured, and passionate people. The scenery is breathtaking, and you will be given memories that will never fade.
